Finding your way

The historic centre spreads along both banks of the Vltava: the Old Town and New Town on the right bank, Malá Strana and the castle district (Hradčany) on the left bank, linked by Charles Bridge. Streets are often cobbled and the climb to the castle is steep: bring good shoes.

Getting around

Prague’s integrated network (PID) has three metro lines (A, B and C), trams, buses and the Petřín funicular. Tickets and validation rules: pid.cz.

Money and language

The currency is the Czech koruna (CZK), not the euro. The official language is Czech.

Getting there

Václav Havel Airport is linked to the centre by bus; the main station (Praha hlavní nádraží) handles international trains.

Emergencies

European emergency number: 112.
